Session Info

Just like this camp’s namesake, we’ll be embracing danger while putting safety first, and we’ll definitely be finding the fun in everything!

Lizard McGizzard, longtime friend and compatriot of Ekone’s own Rock Creek Sally, is well known around the ranch for their git ‘er done attitude, their deep knowledge of many ranch, homestead, and wilderness skills, and their sometimes *very* silly sense of humor and FUN! Join us for this week of camp celebrating everything Lizard McGizzard, from fixing things to making things to exploring the wilderness and interacting with all our plant and animal friends.

Just like how the ol’ Gizzard themselves tackles ranch life, this camp’s schedule will be driven by what campers are most interested in learning about, and what projects most need doing. Some options of McGizzard-y things we might do include: carpentry projects, making some tile mosaics for the new YT2 kitchen building, and other things that involve learning how to safely use power tools. We might also work with leather or tan hides, and we might get to take down some barbed wire fencing and make the giantest Barbed Wire Ball we can! We will probably learn a bit about map-reading and exploring, and will perhaps have the most Supreme Adventure ever… And more than likely we’ll also get to make and preserve some delicious food, like making pasta and/or sausage from scratch, making jam and pickles, and delighting in the bounty of the garden and land. With a little Lizard luck, we might even get to take a visit to an awesome local blacksmith shop …

Like every Ekone camp, there will also be plenty of time to play games together, swim in the pond, eat amazing meals at the Yummy Tummy Cafe, sleep in the Bunkhouse or under the stars, learn new songs, make new friends, and have the transformational experience of Ekone community!

While this is not a horse-focused week of camp, the ol’ McGizzard definitely has some tales to tell about the magical Ekone horses of the past and present, and campers will definitely have the opportunity to spend some time getting to know the Ekone horses as well, and even get in a ride or two :)
