Summer Camp Application 2020
We will start accepting applications for the 2020 camp season January 15.
Email with any questions.
We have added an application step to the registration process! If you have trouble completing the application, please click HERE for some helpful tips.
Please note: CampDoc.com works much better on a computer browser than on a phone--please try accessing it on a computer if you are having trouble.
Read the information below before clicking the 'APPLY HERE' link at the bottom!
Because of the high demand and demonstrated meaningful impact of Ekone Summer Camps on so many children's lives, we have shifted our first-come first-served registration process to an application process. When you access the registration system through CampDoc, you will be asked a few introductory questions and session preferences and will not be required to pay a deposit. Once you have been approved for a desired session you will then be able to fill out the rest of the registration materials and pay a deposit to reserve the spot. Please be patient as we test out this new way of registering your campers!
In reviewing camp applications, we seek to create an excellent camp experience, with the following considerations:
Beginner riders: To give all levels of riders the attention they deserve, we limit the number of beginner riders in each all-level horse camp session to 5. A “beginner rider” is one with less than 10 hours of independent riding experience, or fewer than 2 previous Ekone camp sessions.
Scholarship applicants: We hold a few spaces in each session for scholarship applicants until May, when we have a sense of how many scholarships we can award. Please let us know if you are interested in applying for a scholarship!
Counselor-in-Training applicants: We reserve four spaces in each session for CITs, even if they don’t register until near the beginning of camp. Please note there are no CITs in Wrangler Camp, Young Rider Camp, Passage Camps, or Two-Week Camp
Special-needs applicants: With small sessions and a high camper:staff ratio, we are able to accommodate some moderate special needs into the camp community. However, Ekone is not a therapeutic camp, and we sometimes must say no. Please contact us to see if your camper would be a good fit.
Camp community: There is a special alchemy within the community created for each session of camp. We may redirect campers if we feel that it would be best for the whole of the camp community.
Thank you for your understanding and support in creating the most magical Ekone experience possible, and please contact us with any questions!
A note about multiple sessions: We can no longer accommodate campers staying over between one-week sessions. While we love having campers stay for more than one week, if you register for multiple sessions, please plan to pick up your camper for the 24 hours between Saturday pick up and Sunday drop off. If you're wondering how other families manage this, just ask us!
The reason for this is two-fold: we've found that only one or two campers staying between sessions and all other campers being picked up on Saturday leads to higher likelihood of homesickness taking root before the beginning of the second session. And, even though it doesn't seem like a long time, the hours between Saturday and Sunday are a truly important time for our staff to recharge and get ready for the next week of Ekone magic!
If you think we should make an exception for your camper, please ask! Email email@example.com.
Drop off and Pick up: Drop off for each session is between 3:00pm and 4:00pm on Sunday afternoon. Parents are asked to help their campers get settled and depart (or participate in our guided parent hike!) by 4:00 pm so we can get our week together started. But plan to spend more time at the ranch at pick-up on Saturday; join us at 12:00 noon for a delicious lunch at the Yummy Tummy Café, a slide show of the week’s activities, and, for horse camp sessions, a riding demonstration. For more details about each session, please visit our 2019 Sessions page and click the session title.
Please note that sessions marked “A” and “B” run concurrently.
Tuition: please read our Financial Policies for information about available discounts and refunds for cancellation.
A note about credit cards: Because of the popularity of paying with plastic, we have included a surcharge to cover card processing fees in camp tuition. If you would like to pay with a check, please select the 'Check Discount' when registering your camper.
If you would like to be added to Ekone’s mailing list to receive invitations to other events at the ranch, as well as the early-registration notice for next season, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
