Sacred Earth Foundation:

Founded in 1986, Sacred Earth Foundation is a non-profit land trust, dedicated to preserving and stewarding land for future generations. SEF currently holds just over 1300 acres of beautiful pine and oak savannah along Rock Creek Canyon, in the foothills of the Simcoe Mountains. This land can never be sold or encumbered, and will remain wild and undeveloped; a protected home for the animals and native plants of the area, and a sacred space for generations upon generations to connect with nature.

It was Ray’s vision that Sacred Earth Foundation would protect and steward this land on into perpetuity; anyone who has ever met Ray knows the strength and steadfastness of his belief in the sacredness of nature, and his dedication to sharing the beauty and wonder of the natural world, especially with children. It is impossible to know how many  thousands of lives have been touched by Ray’s vision, by his intense love for the Earth and all living things, and by the amazing magic of Ekone. From the very beginning, Sacred Earth Foundation was intended to protect and steward land long past Ray’s lifetime—or any of ours—on into the future. Sacred Earth Foundation has a very strong and dedicated Board of Directors, all of whom are also passionate about continuing the landsaving efforts of the Foundation, as well as continuing to offer the use of SEF land for educational, spiritual, and high-minded pursuits.

Donations to Sacred Earth Foundation help to purchase new parcels when they become available, and to steward and maintain the health of the land. While it is obviously very important to put more land into trust whenever possible, SEF is also dedicated to the active stewardship and nurturing of the land already held in trust; including cleaning up the messes left by previous owners, reducing fire hazards, preventing the spread of pine bark beetle and other devastating diseases, repairing or taking down fences as needed for the safety of wildlife and horses, setting up birdhouses to make safe homes for some of our fabulous native birds, and carrying out riparian zone studies in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources.

Ekone Burial Ground:

Donations made to the Ekone Burial Ground will support us in establishing a burial ground here on Ekoneland.  It was Ray’s dearest wish to have a place on the land here where those who live here, as well as the Ekone extended family, could be laid to rest. We are currently in the process of submitting the required documents for a licensed burial ground and hope to raise funds to cover the $25,000 bond by April so we can lay Ray to rest there on April 26th, 2008.

Summer Camp:

Donations can also be made to the Summer Camp Scholarship Fund, to help disadvantaged youth to also be able to experience the magic and sacredness of Ekone.
